PTC currently has approval to provide Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for the following PTC programs:

• Early childhood educators
• Foster parents
• CFLEs (Certified Family Life Educators) through NCFR (National Council on Family Relations)
• OH Social Workers, MFTs and Counselors through the Ohio Social Worker, Counselor and Marriage & Family Therapist Board

If we make special advanced application, we can also get approval for Cooperative Extension professionals, Psychologists, Nurses and Chemical Dependency Counselors. If schools sponsor a program, we can offer teacher CEUs.

These CEUs are often accepted for “post-program approval” by other state credentialing boards. Check to see what your state requires for acceptance.

Here is a list of the specific CEU hours each pre-approved program offers:

Parents Toolshop CEU Home Study Program

• Approved for Continuing Education Credits for the Certified Family Life Educator program through the National Council on Family Relations. This training offers 31 contact hours or 3.1 CFLE CEUs.
• Ohio Social Worker, Counselor and MFT Board has approved this training for 15 clock hours.

* This is the best independent study means of getting CEUs. Do it on your own time, at your own pace.

The TIPS parenting class (6-8 weeks)

• Approved for Continuing Education Credits for the Certified Family Life Educator program through the National Council on Family Relations. This training offers up to 16 contact hours, depending on the format (how many sessions, weeks or hours) and resulting total number of contact hours.
• Ohio Social Worker, Counselor and MFT Board has approved this training for up to 18 clock hours.

* This series is usually offered every quarter in the Dayton (OH) area. Anyone can take this program with no commitment or desire to teach Parents Toolshop programs. CLICK HERE to see current schedules and a descriptive program flyer.

* Any hours from this program can be used for the “witnessing programming” requirement that’s part of the Parents Toolshop instructor certification process.

Secrets for Empowering Any Parent (1 and 2-day workshops)

• Approved for Continuing Education Credits for the Certified Family Life Educator program through the National Council on Family Relations. This training offers 6 (1 day) or 12 (2 day) contact hours or 1.2 CFLE CEUs.
• Ohio Social Worker, Counselor and MFT Board has approved this training for 6 (1 day) or 12 (2 day) clock hours..

* Any professional can take this program with no commitment or desire to teach Parents Toolshop programs.

* Any hours from this program can be used for the “witnessing programming” requirement that’s part of the Parents Toolshop instructor certification process.

The TIPS (Tools for Improving Parenting Skills) TELE-CLASS

• Approved for Continuing Education Credits for the Certified Family Life Educator program through the National Council on Family Relations. This training offers up to 16 contact hours, depending on the format (how many sessions, weeks or hours) and resulting total number of contact hours.
• Ohio Social Worker, Counselor and MFT Board has approved this training for up to 16 clock hours.

“Inner Secrets of a Stress-Free Life”
(see past flyer for details)

• Approved for Continuing Education Credits for the Certified Family Life Educator program through the National Council on Family Relations. This training offers 31 contact hours or 3.1 CFLE CEUs.
• Ohio Social Worker, Counselor and MFT Board has approved this training for up to 16 clock hours.

“Secret Recipe for Parenting Success” 
(see past flyer for details)

• Approved for Continuing Education Credits for the Certified Family Life Educator program through the National Council on Family Relations. This training offers 12 contact hours or 1.2 CFLE CEUs.
• Each session offers 1 contact hour or .1 CFLE CEUs.
• Ohio Social Worker, Counselor and MFT Board has approved this training for up to 10 clock hours.

Parent’s Toolshop Group Facilitator Pre-Certification Training (study guide process)

• Approved for Continuing Education Credits for the Certified Family Life Educator program through the National Council on Family Relations. This training offers 42 contact hours or 4 CFLE CEUs.
• Ohio Social Worker, Counselor and MFT Board has approved this training for 15 clock hours.

* Only take this is you want certified to TEACH Parents Toolshop programs. Must read the FREE “Certification Information Packet” before registering for this program. See the “CEU Home Study” program listed below if you want a similar training but do not want to TEACH Parents Toolshop instructor programs.

Parent’s Toolshop Group Facilitator Certification Training

• Approved for Continuing Education Credits for the Certified Family Life Educator program through the National Council on Family Relations. Both the video and in-person training programs offer 20 contact hours or 2 CFLE CEUs
• Ohio Social Worker, Counselor and MFT Board has approved the video training for 15 clock hours.
• Ohio Social Worker, Counselor and MFT Board has approved the in-person training for 18 clock hours.

* Only take this is you want certified to TEACH Parents Toolshop programs. The Pre-Certification Training (above) is a pre-requisite for this training.

Group Facilitator applicants who complete the entire certification process will automatically get CEUs from the pre-certification and certification training programs. Depending on how they do their “witnessing hours” (in person or by video), they may get additional CEUs if they attend the TIPS or 1-or-2-day “Secrets” workshop.
